Dr. Nicole Kissane-Lee is a native of northern Virginia.  She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Virginia and then attended medical school at the Medical College of Virginia.  Dr. Kissane-Lee underwent residency training in General Surgery at the University of Florida.  Following this, she moved to Boston, Massachusetts to pursue additional subspecialty fellowship training in Advanced Laparoscopic and Bariatric Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital.  While in Boston, she also completed a fellowship in Medical Simulation at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital and received a Masters Degree in Education from Harvard University.  Dr. Kissane-Lee was an Assistant Professor of Surgery at Boston University prior to joining the Department of Surgery at the University of Tennessee.
Dr. Kissane-Lee is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.  She is an active member of the Society of American Gastrointestional and Endoscopic Surgeons and a member of the Advisory Committee for the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery.

Dr. Kissane-Lee’s clinical expertise is in minimally invasive and advanced laparoscopic techniques for bariatric and general surgery. Dr. Kissane-Lee’s academic focus is on surgical education and medical simulation.  She is the Assistant Director of the University of Tennessee Center for Advanced Medical Simulation, where she utilizes the latest developments in simulation to enhance learning opportunities for medical personnel throughout the region.

In her spare time, Dr. Kissane-Lee adores spending time with her family and is very excited to be living in Tennessee as part of the Volunteer Nation!
